Type Arabic without an Arabic keyboard
This free Arabic keyboard lets you write Arabic on any computer or phone. Press the keys on your own keyboard and they type Arabic by position, or tap the on-screen keys. Each key shows the English key to press, so you can learn the layout as you go.
Add tashkeel with one tap, copy your text, or send it straight to WhatsApp or Google Translate. Your draft is saved in your browser, so a refresh doesn’t lose it.
Why use it

Your keys type Arabic by position, and small letters on each key show which English key to press.

Frequently asked questions
Typing Arabic
How do I type Arabic without an Arabic keyboard?
Tick “Type with my keyboard” on a computer and your keys type Arabic by position. On a phone, tap the on-screen keys. The small letters on each key show which English key it matches.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. On touch screens the page keeps your phone’s own keyboard hidden and shows large keys instead. You can switch the system keyboard back on with the checkbox under the keys.
Which Arabic layout does it use?
It uses the standard Arabic 101 layout. Other layouts, such as the Apple Arabic layout and the North African AZERTY layout, are planned.
How do I type the second symbol on a key?
Press Shift on your own keyboard, or tap the ⇧ key on the screen. The on-screen keys then show the second symbol, and the key goes back to normal after one letter.
Can I change the colors or the keyboard style?
Yes. Tap the gear button in the corner of the page to choose a light, dark or automatic theme, an accent color, and the keyboard style and size. Your choices are saved in your browser.
How do I add tashkeel (harakat)?
Tap a mark in the gold row to insert it after the letter you just typed.
Copying, sharing and saving
How do I copy or share my text?
Press Copy, or use Ctrl + Enter (⌘ + Enter on a Mac). The WhatsApp button opens WhatsApp with your text ready to send, and the Translate button opens it in Google Translate from Arabic to English.
Is my draft saved?
Yes. Your text is saved in your browser as you type, so a refresh does not lose it. The Clear key empties the box, and clearing your browser’s site data removes the saved draft.
Can I speak instead of typing?
Voice input is available in browsers that support speech recognition. It listens in Arabic (Saudi Arabia) and adds what it hears to your text. The Listen button reads your text aloud if your browser supports speech.
Privacy, cost and AI
Is it free?

Is my text sent to a server?
No. Your text and draft stay in your browser. Voice input is the exception: your browser sends the audio to its own speech service.
Can AI assistants use this page?
Yes, in browsers that support WebMCP. The page offers its Arabic text tools to AI agents.
